Flowerpots, Vibraphone, Viola and more!

Wednesday’s October Lunchtime Concert in Broadfield, Crawley seemed like it must have been sponsored by the homeware department!

It started with Dominic’s ethereal viola playing off-stage, which Toril then started accompanying on flowerpots and a variety of glassware! Toril explained that the movements in the playful second piece could be played in any order, so chances are, we witnessed a world premiere today, complete with cymbals played with a bow and another selection of glassware!

‘Mourning Dove Sonnet’ was performed by Toril on the vibraphone, alternating notes played with beaters and bows. Dominic then performed a solo piece showcasing all sorts of techniques on the viola (accompanied by a spot of singing) and we finished with a trip to an Argentinian nightclub, courtesy of Piazzola. It was a fascinating hour of very diverse music for those of us privileged to be present.

Do join us again next month on 25th November.
