Highlight of the Summer!
On the hottest day of the year the Reza community orchestra summer concert with special guests the Voices of Waterfield, Crawley was for sure, the hottest place to be!
‘Spontaneous fun, fabulous atmosphere! Variety, genuine feel good factor, highlight of the Summer calendar’… all feedback from our audience at our joyous family concert on Sunday.
With music arranged by the BBC Ten Pieces and Reza musicians Anna Cooper and Toril Azzalini-Machecler, the orchestra confidently tackled tricky repertoire including ‘Jurassic Park’, ‘Mambo’ and ‘Rhapsody in Blue’ and were dancing in their seats during popular hits including Summer Nights.
The stars of the show had to be Voices of Waterfield with their passionate performances including ‘This is Me’ from ‘The Greatest Showman’ and an emotional rendition of Lennon-McCartney’s ‘Yesterday’ featuring choir master Raymond Lilley - a real tear jerker! This was followed by that ever powerful tonic, ‘Happy’ by Pharrell Williams - performed with the orchestra which had everyone grooving in their seats.
A wonderful celebration of community music making at its very best, bringing all ages together. The standing ovation was very much well deserved. As one audience member put it, ‘Viva Ensemble Reza!’.
