Because Mendelssohn is ‘Worth’ it
Our musicians wowed with an utterly gorgeous evening on music on Friday evening, celebrating 1000 years of Worth’s beautiful St Nicholas Church.
After an introductory Adagio and Fugue by Mozart, Lucy Jeal dazzled everyone with her rendition of Mendelssohn’s glorious violin concerto, written when he was only 13 years old, backed by our Reza musicians in a superb arrangement of the concerto for strings.
This was followed by our eight musician’s performing his masterpiece - the String Octet in E-flat major, Op. 20, written 200 years ago this October by the then 16 year old Mendelssohn.
With standing ovations in both halves of this sold out concert, we all felt the buzz of being enveloped in a sound bath of beautiful music. It was a perfect evening in a stunningly beautiful setting hidden away in this picturesque corner of Crawley.
