Sarah Carvalho-Dubost
Sarah Carvalho-Dubost began playing the cello in Paris and studied singing in the Maîtrise de Radio-France. She obtained the First Prize of Paris for cello in 1998, for Chamber Music in 1999 and for Music Theory in 2000. She won a full Scholarship to study the cello at the Royal College of Music of London with Leonid Gorokhov, graduating with a PGdip with Honors in Solo Performance.
A founding member of Ensemble Reza, Sarah loves playing chamber music and also performs with Trio Salona and a few orchestras. Along with classical music, Sarah enjoys playing world music and has performed at the Women of the World Music Festival, London and Sidmouth Folk Festival. She also performs frequently in both Paris and in London in venues including Kings Place, The Royal Festival Hall, Green Note, Vortex Jazz Club and The Purcell Room.
Sarah also teaches cello privately and in Sussex schools including Burgess Hill Girls and Ardingly College. She works regularly with Pro Corda as a Director of Primary Chamber Music Courses and coaches their cello courses.
Sarah is a part of the ‘Music for Life’ team, a programme run by the Wigmore Hall outreach team for people with dementia. She has been involved in these workshops since 2010 and finds them deeply rewarding.
