Pavlos Carvalho, Artistic Director and cellist
Pavlos Carvalho has won international music competitions in England, Italy, Germany and Russia. He has performed as a solo and chamber musician in venues including The Purcell Room, The Royal Albert Hall, The Cadogan Hall and Teatro dal Verme, Milan.
Pavlos has recorded for the BBC and recently released the Bach Suites for Willowhayne Records. He annually performs these suites, together with the Beethoven Sonatas at both the Brighton and Chichester Festivals.
He has performed concertos with many orchestras, including the Royal Philharmonic. He regularly performs with Southern Pro Musica, recently playing Haydn’s C Major Concerto and will be performing the Elgar Cello Concerto with them later this year.
As a founding member and Artistic Director of Ensemble Reza, Pavlos has been involved in many outreach and community projects including Music for Life, Pied Piper and Live Music Now. He is a Director of Pro Corda Cello Courses and has given master classes and workshops for the London Cello Society and Cambridge University. He is also a member of the Gustav Holst Ensemble.
Pavlos has a deep interest in World Music and is a founding member and Director of the Rebetiko Carnival a charity and festival dedicated to the music of Greece and Asia minor.
