Remembering Andrew Thurgood

In memory of Andrew, with your support we would like to take music to residents & their families in our local hospices at a difficult time. We know music can bring great comfort, joy, laughter & tears.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our wonderful violinist Andrew Thurgood.

Andrew was not only an inspirational musician, teacher and composer but to the Reza family and to many others a very special friend.

His death has come as a massive shock to us all. Less than a week after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer he slipped away, with his two sons Jeremy and Dan and his sister Linda by his side.

Our last concert with Andrew was in Chichester. We had a wonderful evening performing the music that he loved, classical – jazz, folk and his own beautiful composition Summer Sunrise. This concert will remain a special memory for all those who joined us and the Reza family.

However hard, we will carry on and he will remain dear to our hearts in all the work we do - on stage performing to audiences, in the classroom running workshops and with our wonderful community orchestra, which he led from the start.
