Keeping Cool with Clarinets

Today’s lunchtime concert was a wonderful respite from the hot weather. Steve and Laurie battled the warm temperatures and performed a beautiful and varied programme of clarinet duets, starting with Christopher Ball’s Music for Youth, which Steve often plays with his students and ending with Lewin’s very funky Views of the Blues. Steve regaled us with lots of funny anecdotes between pieces - apparently all the composers on the programme were clarinettists themselves apart from Richard Rodney Bennett.

Do join us for our next Broadfield concert on 24th June where the Barefaced Violas will make their much anticipated return. And before then, we’d love to see you our new Crawley venue, The Charis Centre at 7pm on 12th June for another fabulous programme ‘Here comes the sun’.
