A ‘Roaring’ Family Concert!

“I just got back from your family concert. I have never been to an event like it: an explosion of music, poetry and uninhibited joy. The children were able to explore the music naturally and joyful and there were real moments of reverie and wonder. I was inspired by the children, the musicians, the music. Thank you so much!!”

- Audience member

We had a capacity audience for our family concert in Lindfield this afternoon. The concert was centred around Saint-Saëns’ iconic Carnival of the Animals… but in typical Reza-style, we mixed it up a bit!

Audience members took it in turns to come up and choose a wooden disc from the basket which had the name of a movement from the piece written on it. We heard all the movements, but not in the traditional order and each one was prefaced by a short poetic summary. My favourites were Sarah’s stunningly lyrical Swan, the bones rattling in the Fossils (featuring Anna’s newly learnt instrument!) and the Aquarium.

We had singing, animal noises, dancing and clapping, as well as juice and cakes! Is there a better way to cheer up a miserable Saturday afternoon? We think not! See you again in October for our next family concert - make sure you’re on our mailing list to find out the details first!
