Crawley Music Collective hits the right note

Our Crawley Music Collective continues to thrive, and our end-of-term gig at Creative Crawley's excellent County Mall venue was a wonderful celebration with plenty of audience participation.

This term we again had a diverse line-up of instruments, including flute, clarinet, violin, cello, kamanche (Persian violin), double bass, bouzouki, ukulele, accordion, keyboard, percussion, bass guitar, and electric guitar. With musicians of all ages and standards - from beginners to professionals - over the course of the workshops and performance at Diverse Crawley’s World Day for Diversity event in Broadfield, we created four pieces together, each with a different style and influence, including Cuban jazz funk, Iranian folk, a song by ten-year-old Augustus, and a cello-led theme.

This group, supported by Ensemble Reza and led by the brilliant Paul Griffiths, is a friendly, welcoming space where players of all ages and abilities feel well supported at whatever stage of their musical journey. Together we have made some amazing music — and some amazing friendships!
