We’re creating our own Carnival of the Animals with students from Ingfield Manor!

This Spring Ensemble Reza is teaming up with UK’s leading music technology expert Jason Rowland and the largest community arts charity in the South East, SameSky to create a unique multi sensory music project based on Saint-Saën’s magical work, Carnival of the Animals.

This project is aimed at students from Ingfield Manor, a school for pupils aged between 3-19 with neurological impairments such as cerebral palsy.

Following the success of a pilot project Ensemble Reza ran with the school last year, this composition and creative art project has been devised for the whole school and will include:

  • An initial concert of Carnival of the Animals by 9 professional musicians.

  • Seven composition workshops with Jason Rowland and Ensemble Reza musicians.

  • Two art workshops led by SameSky to create costumes, pictures and props.

  • Workshop for the staff focusing on music technology and Soundbeam.

  • Final concert performance with students performing alongside Ensemble Reza to family and friends with costumes, pictures and props professionally designed and staged by SameSky.

 Feedback from our previous project:

Students at Ingfield Manor have a range of abilities and associated learning difficulties arising from cerebral palsy including limited mobility, speech, hearing and visual impairments. Many students require 1:1 specialist care. The reality of taking students with such complex needs to a venue to experience live music making is almost impossible.

“‘It’s a real honor to see such amazing musicianship and that is something we cannot provide … it’s opening up a world that they might not otherwise experience’ ”

— Liz, Teacher at Ingfield Manor

“ This was an exceptional performance worthy of the Royal Albert Hall. All pupils actively engaged with the narration and music. The sheer joy on their faces was a delight to see. The musicians involved were incredible and included our pupils regardless of their disability in the performance. This is an outstanding opportunity for any young person to be a part of.”

— Becki Smale. Vice Principal

“it was such an energising experience for staff & students, the room was full of happiness & excitement

We are delighted to have received funding from the Knighton Fund and DeWinton Fund at Sussex Community Foundation, as well as Ensemble Reza Friends and the Friends of Ingfield Manor School.
